I chose the topic “ trees “ because it is really simple, basic, and easy. Also, it’s because I find trees interesting and they are really cool. I chose this topic because I think trees have many cool features not many people know about! If I didn’t choose this topic, people would be missing out on information about trees that I find really interest
Science Concept
The main science behind trees is photosynthesis. The leaves pull in carbon dioxide and water and use the energy of the sun to convert this into chemical compounds such as sugars. This process creates “food” for the tree. These primary producers form the base of an ecosystem.
Application
The trees’ food-making process, photosynthesis, involves absorbing carbon dioxide from the air and storing it in its wood. Trees and other plants will store this carbon dioxide throughout their life. This helps slow the gas’ buildup in our atmosphere that has been rapidly warming our planet. Trees also clean the air we breathe, filter the water we drink, and provide habitat to over 80% of the world’s terrestrial biodiversity.
