Application

Poison Ivy is used to help treat pain. It also helps with arthritis, sprains, and itchy skin disorders. The saying of “ three leaves let it be” then you can just catch a glimpse of  it before you get too close. But actually there is no scientific evidence that supports all the things that poison ivy can help.

Career Path

It was a close encounter in 2012 that made microbiologist John Jelesko take an interest in poison ivy.
The Virginia Tech professor was cutting up a downed tree with an electric chainsaw. What he didn't realize was that his power cable had been dragging through poison ivy. So at the end of the day, as he coiled the cord around his palm and elbow, he accidentally  launched a career-bending science experiment.
