Meet Astronaut Charlie Duke

Twelve men have walked on the moon.  Four are still alive:  Buzz Aldrin, David Scott, Charlie Duke, and Harrison "Jack" Schmitt.  Aldrin (born in 1930) was on the first moon landing.  The youngest living (and the youngest ever to walk on the moon) is 90-year-old Charlie Duke.  As far as we know, Duke is the astronaut who will meet my wife and her U.S. team of high schoolers at their Endeavour Space Camp in July.  This gentle man is an inspiration.

​I chose the three videos here for a reason.  The one below on the right is an excellent keynote address that Duke made about a year ago.  It's an excellent explanation of the Apollo 16 experience.  The video on the left is the actual video from their walk.

​Finally, the video above is a music video from the Stryker Brothers, commemorating when Duke took country music tapes to listen to on the trip.
