Elephant Toothpaste

Picture
SCIENCE CONCEPT
The thermonuclear reaction is the fusion of two light atomic nuclei into a single heavier nucleus by a collision of the two interacting particles with high temperatures as a consequence of which a large amount of energy is released. This is what happens when the chemicals used to make elephant's toothpaste reacts.

Elephant's toothpaste is a foamy substance caused by the rapid decomposition of hydrogen peroxide using potassium iodide, or yeast and warm water as a catalyst. How rapidly the reaction proceeds will depend on the concentration of hydrogen peroxide.

APPLICATION
It is important to know about thermonuclear chemistry because it helps us understand the advanced field of nukes. It's important so people who make and solve chemical reactions can have help to figure out what to do. And so that they can also have their problems solved with the solutions of how much stuff to put inside of nukes.

These nukes included a lot of chemicals. It had enough to where the explosion it made was 1,000 times the amount of explosion made from the uranium bomb used to bomb hiroshima. They tested the h bomb in the pacific ocean.

CAREER
A career that involves elephant toothpaste is a thermonuclear chemist. A thermonuclear chemist These chemists study every part of the nuclear fuel cycle, including producing fuel, mining nuclear uranium, ore processing, using fuel in nuclear reactors, managing used fuel, and waste disposal. These chemists have found out many things to better the world.

A nuclear chemist is very important in our society becasue a nuclear chemistry greatly assists the understanding of medical treatments such as cancer radiotherapy and has enabled these treatments to improve. It includes the study of the production and use of radioactive sources for a range of processes.
SCIENTIST
A famous thermonuclear chemist is Edward Teller or the father of the hydrogen bomb. He was a Hungarian born american. After the soviet union got its first atomic bomb teller went to Truman and showed him his design for the hydrogen bomb. Truman approved it and he started to build the hydrogen bomb.

Teller made many contributions to thermonuclear chemistry. Including developing the first thermonuclear weapon. Even though he thought of the bomb in 1941. The bomb didn't even get tested until 1951 a decade later.

ESSAY
The elephant toothpaste was a great experiment to choose but let's talk about the ups and the downs of elephant toothpaste. Elephant toothpaste was an awesome experiment to choose this year for the knights of science. Elephant toothpaste is a chemical reaction between hydrogen peroxide and yeast.

Some of the downsides of this project was the fact that I tried to find 6% hydrogen peroxide but could only find 3% peroxide which worked well as you can tell from the video of my experiment. The elephant toothpaste was a very messy but joyful experiment to do for knights of science.

In this experiment I took a rootbeer bottle from the gas station. Hmhmhmhm I love
rootbeer. Then I put dish soap in the bottle and also added food coloring. I chose green the first
time of my experiment. Then you add a half cup of hydrogen peroxide to the bottle with the dish
soap and food coloring. Then in a separate cup you add yeast and warm water and mix it together for around 30 seconds. Then you take your root beer bottle with your dish soap and food coloring and hydrogen peroxide and put the yeast and warm water in the rootbeer bottle.

Some of the stuff I realized after the experiment Was that the reaction could be bigger If I add more hydrogen peroxide and yeast the second time around. So 1 added 1 cup of hydrogen peroxide and 1 ½ tablespoons of dry yeast.

The reaction was a lot bigger the second time around and It was a lot bigger than what I expected to come out of the experiment. This reaction was a lot better than the first experiment that I tried to do.

I learned a lot doing this experiment like some different fields of science and the scientists in these fields. And I learned a lot about thermonuclear chemistry.

Thank you for reading my essay about elephant toothpaste. I loved being able to learn about elephant toothpaste and being able to do experiments and research. Thank you for reading and letting me have the opportunity to learn about elephant toothpaste.
