Electrical Conduction

by Aaron

Why I Chose This Topic

I picked this topic because I love electricity and I like reading about Nikola Tesla and all his inventions. I want to see how many people it would take until the electric current would not have enough to light up a light bulb.

Science Concept

I learned that electricity can be put in your body at a certain amount and can be distributed to another person through contact. But if you touch the person after your body is charged with electricity you booth would have a slight shock. But if you are booth holding hands when you put electricity in one person it will be distributed to the other person then you can touch a incandescent light bulb. When you touch the incandescent light bulb it will aluminate and that shows me that electricity is flowing through two people without harming each other in any way.

During my research I found out that electricity can be used in medical acts with a violet ray generator. The generator  has healing properties like curing headaches, dandruff, premature baldness, graying hair, insomnia, rheumatism, neuritis, gout, neuralgia, weak lungs, nervousness, hoarseness of voice, sallow complexion, and a range of dental disorders.

But in 1951 the violet ray generator was proclaimed illegal to manufacture in the U.S. because of one person proclaiming that the violet ray generator caused them to become blind. They said the light that is alumanting in the device caused them to go blind. But manufacturers said that the machine would cure eye problems to prevent blindness. But because it didn’t cure the person's eyes a court proclaimed it  illegal to manufacture in the U.S.

So the device I will be using is used in Electrotherapy. Electrotherapy is the use of electrical energy as a medical treatment. In medicine, the term electrotherapy can apply to a variety of treatments, including the use of electrical devices such as deep brain stimulators for neurological disease. The term has also been applied specifically to the use of electric current to speed wound healing. Additionally, the term electrotherapy has also been applied to a range of alternative medical devices and treatments.

Application

Electric current is used in electrotherapy as a treatment that involves sending an electric current through your brain, causing a stimulus of electrical activity within the patients.  The aim of the treatment is to relieve  symptoms of some physical health problems. It was even used in house calls from 1915 to 1950 for private skin care so women could look beautiful.

The person that created the  machine I am using is Nikola Tesla, who built the Violet ray generator Tesla suggested that different wavelengths on the electromagnetic spectrum could be used to treat medical conditions. Jacques-Arsène d’Arsonval and Paul Oudin, pioneers in the field of electrotherapy, agreed that it could be used to treat medical conditions. They modified Tesla’s device to create an electrotherapy instrument. Tesla also developed an instrument, and it was not long before numerous companies began peddling their own versions under the name ‘violet ray’.
