An earthquake happens when the tectonic plates get stuck at their edges and the friction from the pressure on the edges turns into stress and produces powerful waves of energy which causes the shaking of the earthquake. Aftershocks are also a common thing to happen after earthquakes. They can also be very powerful.

It’s good to study earthquakes because seismologists must determine when and where the earthquake will happen. They also need to know when or if they need to evacuate a city. It’s also good to study earthquakes because they help us better understand the tectonic plates.

Seismology is the study of earthquakes. You would call someone who studies earthquakes a seismologist. They also study landslides and tsunamis because they often happen after earthquakes.

A person who studies earthquakes is a seismologist. A seismologist makes about 50,000 dollars a year to 130,000 dollars a year. They use a Richter scale to study earthquakes. They also need to study landslides and tsunamis because they need to know when one may happen.
