Concept & Application
On the island of Oa’hu within the island of Hawaii a young botanist exploring through the local fauna and flora stumbles upon a new and wondrous flower.  This botanist known as Joseph F. Rock explored from 1911 to 1913 ,helped identify various species and eventually established the genus Hibiscadelphus. This amazing find would later become a symbol of royalty, power, and respect of the Hawaiian people and would become the official state flower in 1988.
The hibiscus, while beautiful, by itself, has been found to have many other uses and applications in today's world. The culinary arts have used the hibiscus in teas, jams, jellies, and even placing the leaves within salads. The Natural products uses don't stop there as many herbal medicines  and lotions have found promising results for lowering blood pressure, inflammation, liver health, and even improving digestion.
But the main reason why we need to study the flower is because it's important to the Hawaiian environment. There can be so many natural resources, resources, and some cool food that you didn't know has hibiscus in it.  But who knows, maybe you can even discover a new species of the flower, a new way to make products.
The Hawaiian hibiscus will forever be remembered as a represented royalty, honor and respect.
