Science Concept & Application
The reason why we need to study palm trees is because of carbon sequestration to biodiversity conservation. These majestic trees play a crucial role in maintaining a healthy ecosystem. There are around 2,500 species of palm trees in the world. Most of them are found in tropical coastal areas. 

Some people use them for religious purposes. References to palm trees and palm fronds can be found in religious texts back to the beginning of recorded history. Some palm trees can actually reach the height of 14 stories. The Quindio wax palm, which is the national tree of Columbia, Is the tallest species. It can reach a height of about 200 ft.

They also have a medicinal value. The fruit,sap and meat have a large number of medical uses including people with prostate cancer,treating breast cancer, diabetes, hypertension, inflammation, and cognitive function.

The specific study of Palm Trees is called a Palmists. Their scientific name is Arecaceae. The scientists that study Palm Trees are called Botanists. They get paid around 50k - 110k per year. Botanists have discovered around 2,600 species of palm trees.

Scientist
A famous botanist that studys palm trees is Max Beret. He graduated at the University of Cambridge. He was born in 1909 and died in 1961 at the age of 52 years old. He originally went to school for law. He later found out that he had more interest in natural science.
